What is Kali?

Kali is a Kernel that is open-source and is used for penetration testing, ethical hacking, and security research purpose. Kali is a bunch of solutions and free to available for information security professionals. 

Kali has more than 600 tools available for the information security professional and multi-purpose use for penetration testing, security research, ethical hacking, reverse engineering.

Installation of Kali in Virtual Box

Installation Prerequisites 

• 20 GB free hard disk space
• Around 2 GB RAM required
• Intel i3 or amd64 at least required
• Download Kali iso file from Here Kali Linux
• Download Virtual Box from Here Virtual Box

Installation Process

Step 1: First download and import the iso file of Kali in virtual box. Let's see the below image on the first screen that opens the kali.

Step 2: Then for the import iso file click in the storage option and then click on the optional drive and import it and then click on ok.

Step 3: Then in the virtual box start the Kali Linux that is shown below.

Step 4: Now after starting the kali you will see the screen like this and in that select the first option graphical install and hit enter.

Step 5: Then select the language as whatever you are comfortable with.

Step 6: Then select your location.

Step 7: Then select keyboard language.

Step 8: Now enter the hostname of the system which identifies the system.

Step 9: Then select and enter the full name of the user.

Step 10: Now enter the username of your account.

Step 11: Then enter the password for security purposes.

Step 12: Then select the Guided – use the entire disk.

Step 13: Select the disk on which we want to install kali, in this case, there is only one disk that we created previously.

Step 14: In this step, you have to do a selection of partitions of the disk. Here I have selected all files in one partition.

Step 15: Now click on continue and on the next step select yes to finally install the OS in the selected disk.

Step 16: Here select yes if you want to changes the disk in the future otherwise select no.

Step 17: Here select the software that you want to install

Step 18: As there is no OS installed in the disk we need to install the GRUB boot loader to start the Linux.

Step 19: Now we need to select the disk on which we want to install the GRUB boot loader.

Step 20: Here finish the installation click continue and it will run the Kali.

Step 21: Here the system will be restarted and go to screen like below

Step 22: Here you have to provide the username and password which you had to enter during the installation configuration.

Now your Kali Linux is run perfectly and you can see this type of screen on your system.
